Born in 1979 in Istanbul, he started his musical adventure with Rock. He played in many universities and festivals with his band Paradaxos. But soon he turned to classical guitar and then flamenco guitar.
In 2000, he gave concerts consisting of flamenco works with his group "Andaluz Flamenco".
Alper Kargın started his academic career in 2001 by winning a scholarship to the Jazz department at Bilgi University, where he worked with musicians such as Ricky Ford, Donovan Mixon, and James Lewis. He then completed his master's degree at the Istanbul Halic University Conservatory, where he wrote his thesis on the oud and Turkish music under the guidance of Prof. Mutlu Torun. Kargın continued his career by completing the doctoral program in Classical Guitar at the Istanbul University State Conservatory..
In 2007, the arrangement they made with Öykü & Berk called "Evlerinin önü boyalı direk” made a big impact.
In 2011, he recorded the album Istanbul Flamenco "5" Quintet with the famous singer Zara.
After the death of the famous guitarist Paco De Lucia, he gave concerts "in memory of Paco De Lucia" at the Istanbul and Ankara Flamenco Festivals in 2014.
In 2015, he played with the famous Spanish guitarist Victor Monge Serranito in Istanbul, Ankara and the 4th International Antalya Guitar Festival.
In 2016, he recorded his composition 'La Buleria Turca' with the famous Spanish percussionist Sabu Porrina. Then he performed 'La Buleria Turca' with percussionist Moskito at "Solera Flamenca", Spain's most followed guitarists' meeting point, which attracted great attention.
Alper Kargın, who prefers to take part in special projects, made a flamenco arrangement of Sezen Aksu's song 'Geri Dön' in the documentary "Sezen Sokakta", produced by Erkan Güleryüz and directed by Bedran Güzel in 2018.
In 2019, he performed on stage with Victor Monge Serranito as part of the 6th International Istanbul Guitar Festival. During the festival's flamenco guitar competition, Serranito shared the jury seat with Pedro Sierra.
In 2024, he performed concerts featuring Rodrigo's Guitar Concerto with the Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra.
Alper Kargın, who has worked with many famous names on stage and in the studio in Turkey throughout his career, had the opportunity to make music with famous flamenco guitarists such as Paco de Lucia, Victor Monge Serranito, Manolo Sanlucar, Tomatito, Pepe Habichuela, Josemi Carmona, Rafael Riqueni, Juan Manuel Cañizares, Jose Maria Bandera, Jose Luis Postigo in several occasions.

1979 yılında İstanbul’da doğan sanatçı müzik serüvenine Rock ile başladı. Grubu Paradaxos ile pek çok üniversite ve festivalde çaldı. Fakat çok geçmeden, önce klasik gitara sonra ise flamenko gitara yöneldi.
2000 yılında kurmuş olduğu grubu “Andaluz Flamenko” ile flamenko eserlerden oluşan konserler verdi.
Akademik kariyerine 2001 yılında Bilgi Üniversitesi Jazz bölümünü burslu kazanarak başlayan Alper Kargın, Ricky Ford, Donovan Mixon, James Lewis gibi müzisyenlerle çalıştı. Ardından İstanbul Haliç Üniversitesi Konservatuvarı'nda Prof. Mutlu Torun ile ud ve Türk Müziği üzerine tezini vererek yüksek lisansını tamamladı. Kargın, kariyerine İstanbul Üniversitesi Devlet Konservatuvarı Klasik Gitar bölümünde doktora programını tamamlayarak devam etti.
2007 yılında Öykü&Berk ile yapmış oldukları “Evlerinin önü boyalı direk” adlı düzenleme büyük ses getirdi.
2011 yılında ünlü şarkıcı Zara ile İstanbul Flamenko 5’lisi albümünü kaydetti.
Ünlü gitarist Paco De Lucia’nın ölümünün ardından 2014 yılında İstanbul ve Ankara Flamenko Festivallerinde “Paco De Lucia'nın anısına” konserler verdi.
2015 yılında ünlü İspanyol gitarist Victor Monge Serranito ile İstanbul, Ankara ve 4. Uluslararası Antalya Gitar Festivali’nde çaldı.
2016 yılında 'La Buleria Turca' adlı bestesini ünlü İspanyol perküsyoncu Sabu Porrina ile kaydetti. Ardından İspanya’nın en çok takip edilen gitaristlerin buluşma noktası “Solera Flamenca'da” perküsyoncu Moskito ile seslendirdiği 'La Buleria Turca' adlı eser büyük ilgi gördü.
Özel projelerde yer almayı tercih eden Alper Kargın, 2018 yılında senaryosunu Erkan Güleryüz’ün yazdığı, yönetmenliğini Bedran Güzel’in yaptığı “Sezen Sokakta” adlı belgeselde Sezen Aksu’nun ‘Geri Dön’ adlı parçasına flamenko düzenleme yaptı.
2019 yılında 6. Uluslararası İstanbul Gitar Festivali kapsamında Victor Monge Serranito ile sahne aldı. Festivalde düzenlenen flamenko gitar yarışmasında Serranito, Pedro Sierra ile jüri koltuğunu paylaştı.
2024 yılında İstanbul Filarmoni Orkestrası ile ‘Rodrigo’nun Gitar Konçertosu’nu seslendirdiği konserler verdi.
Kariyeri boyunca Türkiye’de birçok ünlü isimle sahne ve stüdyo çalışmalarında bulunan Alper Kargın, başta Paco de Lucia olmak üzere Victor Monge Serranito, Manolo Sanlucar, Tomatito, Pepe Habichuela, Josemi Carmona, Rafael Riqueni, Juan Manuel Cañizares, Jose Maria Bandera, Jose Luis Postigo gibi ünlü flamenko gitaristleri ile müzik yapma fırsatı buldu.
